Why administrator access is required
Windows requires elevated permissions to edit the hosts file and terminate protected processes. Zenbrox requests Run as Administrator only when you enable system-level website or app blocking. The app does not need admin rights to run the timer, record sessions, or sync to your account.
What the app accesses
- Hosts file — to block specified domains during sessions. Changes are fully reversed when the session ends or the app is closed.
- Process list — to terminate apps on your blocked-apps list. No browsing history, files, or personal data are read.
- Network — only to sync session stats to your Zenbrox account (if logged in).
How to disable or uninstall
End a blocking session at any time from the system tray icon — all hosts file changes are immediately reversed. To uninstall, use Windows Settings → Add or Remove Programs → Zenbrox. This removes the app and cleans up all files it created. No system changes persist after uninstall.
Data collection
The desktop app collects only focus session durations and the mode used (Pomodoro / Deep Work / Custom). It does not collect browsing history, file names, screen content, or keystrokes. Session data is stored locally and optionally synced to your account if you are logged in.
